If you're keen to get on the bandwagon with all your other friends who have iPhones, then rest assured that you actually don't need to fork out lots of money to buy the Apple iPhone. You can join in with the crowd at a fraction of the cost by simply purchasing an 8GB iPod Touch instead.

The iPod Touch is a device that is also available from Apple, and it looks and feels exactly like the iPhone. The main difference is that the iPod Touch is much cheaper, and it doesn't have the mobile phone features. That's perfectly okay for many iPod Touch users because they don't want to spend more money than necessary, and most users already have alternatives to phone connectivity. For example, the iPod Touch still has Wi-Fi capabilities, so you can still check your email and you can make phone calls if you download the Skype app. Furthermore, you probably don't need phone capabilities on your iPod Touch if you already have your own mobile phone device anyway.
